So for awhile now I've been trying to address the lag issues people are reporting. The problem is that I can't reproduce it so I need someone that knows how to reproduce this issue without fail and is certain things aren't lagging on the client side. Please message me if you can do this and what times you are available. I will need 30-60 minutes of your time to conduct various tests and I need to know what you require to reproduce the issue and your machine specs. I would prefer someone more technically inclined but I'll take what I can get.

Here are the things I'm going to test...

• We will do whatever is needed for you to reproduce the issue. I will then slowly start taking things away/offline and asking constantly are you lagging now? If this means I have to take all servers offline then I will do so. I'll let everyone know if there is a potential scheduled downtime.
• You will be asked once we remove everything extra on the server to change your client settings to their defaults. I will then mess with some generic tf2 server settings and then just generic server wide settings.
• I will simulate fake lag and other things.

Here are the things I've already tested...

• Server CPU in total and for the game daemon process is NOT reporting anything bad
• Server MEM in total and for the game daemon process is NOT reporting anything bad
• Server FPS for the game daemon is reporting nominal stats
• Server ping/latency is reporting excellent results
• Valve patches are making it less and less optimized for both server/client end.
• Bad client settings does indeed simulate bad lag as would server settings which haven't been touched in years.
• Some people never experience the lag and who knows how many do.

If I can't figure out the issue then we're are just fucked... well I will be the only player not experiencing this but maybe not. I put up a poll asking if you do as I want to know if its just one loud voice or the voice of many. If its the voice of many and we can't isolate the issue then CnB is in the shitter. So if you voted please post your machine specs especially if you're the one lagging or not lagging consistently (if its seldom no need to post your specs).

I don't have a great computer but somehow I can't reproduce anything people report which makes it nearly impossible for me to find the cause 8(

Specs...

• Win 7 pro 64bit
• AMD Phenom II (quad core) 3.0GHz
• 8GB DDR2 RAM in unganged mode
• 2 x ATI 4870, 512mb cards PCI-e x16
• Plain piece of shit SATA II 7200RPM drive
• 15mbit down 512kbit up connection (shitty cable modem), the only user of it and my ping is perfect
• Have many programs running at the same time as I play with many internet connections being made to other places at the same time
• Rest of stats irrelevant. Please do not post how awesome your keyboard is. I don't give a shit.

NOTE: I'm posting my specs as I never experience any lag ever on the servers unless they crash. Post yours if you don't either OR if you do lag and know its not your resources failing you.

I personally lag a lot. I'm pretty sure a lot of it has to do with my laptop being a piece of crap, but even then, just on the CnB servers, I do suffer from untold amounts of lag from time to time in areas or maps I shouldn't be having any.

Ok, thats the rig. and its been laggy and bullets dont land where i point quite the same as they did from b4 the server switch. And you already know what my night schedual is from the times you climb out the window in the morning


and certain larger maps bring HUGE lag.

I'll first have to isolate client side to make sure everything's ok on my end. Here's my spec :

• Athlon 64 3400+
  
• 2G ram dual channel
  
• 6800 GT 256Mb AGP
  
• 160G Sata 7200rpm
  
• 7.5Mb and around 60Kb/s in up
  
• Location : Near Montreal,Qc (could be relevant to latency but server seems close)
  
• Running TF2 and Security Essentials. I cut the torrents when I play but microTorrent is running in the background)
  
• OS : Win7 RC

I am running TF2 at a lower setting than detected defaults. Sometimes it's just the map in rotation that's a pain like pl_Beerbowl_b3 and maybe pl_Cranetop.

I sometimes get small lag spikes every once and a while but it's nothing I can't ignore. Also I got a new router and I have yet to try it out on the server (shouldn't be anything too different though.)

I'll get lag from time to time, but when it comes, it usally last for a preaty long time. Sometimes its my internet being gay, but sometimes I know my internets fine and not doing anything extra, yet the lag continues. Anyway my spec are attached.

Surprsingly considering my location and crappy internet speed I never really have any lag issues with the CnB server, unless I accidently leave my downloads on before I join in everything runs perfect for me.
